Cunningham Amplifiers
I first spoke to Tim Cunningham some time in July 2021 after seeing an Olive Drab version of his Dual Range Fuzz. There was just something about the look that spoke to me and I knew I had to get in touch with Tim. We initially had said it would just be a quick call to check in on things but it ended up being over an hour. We talked about many things but the main thing that I got out from our conversations was that Tim was a man of details, and to get those details right. That was the exact thing that I was looking for especially when it comes to building fuzzes.
Building a fuzz is a lot like cooking. There are many recipes about the same dish with the same ingredients, but it all comes down to the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the how the chef pairs these ingredients. While transistors might share the same name, each of them are different and they have to be carefully paired by ear. While the circuits may look simple, it takes a whole lot of experience and skill to get it right.
Now as these pedals have arrived, they surpass all my anticipation and expectations about what a good fuzz should be. One thing is for sure - when fuzzes are done right, they are truly inspiring. Dealing with Tim has been a highly inspiring process throughout and I hope these pedals inspire you in the same way.
